Membrane
Nitrogen Generators are built and supplied
by MVS as skid mounted, shop assembled units and include
all equipments and instruments for generation of Nitrogen
gas of specified flow and purity. Higher the Nitrogen purity
level, lower is the Nitrogen gas quantity and so operating
cost increases. Membranes are imported from world leading
manufacturer.

The Membrane
separator has cylindrical bundle of hollow fiber membranes
made from polymer material. Each bundle contains several million
fibers at one end and flows to the opposite end through the
fiber bore. Gas separation takes place
through fiber wall. Fast gases such as Oxygen, CO2
and water vapor quickly permeate through the fiber wall and
exit at atmospheric pressure through the vent port on the
outerside of the Membrane separator.Nitrogen
being a slower gas does not permeate through the fiber wall
as quickly under flowing conditions. It flows down the bore
of the fiber and exits at 0.3 to 1 Bar lower than the pressure
of the inlet compressed air |
|
|
 |
To
make a complete Inert gas production system, compressed air
is provided from a dedicated air compressor. A feed air cleaning
system is provided ahead of the Membrane Separator to provide
clean air free from oil, water droplets and solid particles.
The clean air will allow for high Nitrogen production and
will also ensure long life of the membrane. |
| |
|
The feed
air cleaning system is the most critical part of the Membrane
Nitrogen generator, otherwise performance deteriorates with
time.
|
| |
| A
well-designed air feed system consists of |
|
 |
|
|
 |
10
to 12 Barg feed air pressure is desirable. Minimum operating
air pressure should be 8 Barg. The Membrane system operates
most effectively at 9.3 to 11 Barg and 27 to 430C.
Nitrogen production increases with increases in pressure maintaining
constant purity. |
|
|
 |
Optimum
operating temperature range is 35 to 450C. But
it should not exceed 500C to prevent degradation
of life and performance of membranes. |
|
|
 |
Nitrogen Separation Membrane
will not be affected by oil vapor but liquid oil will permanently
damage the Membrane. So two coalescing filters are recommended
upstream so that all oil aerosols are removed. With routine
maintenance of filtration system Membrane life expected
is around 10 to 15 years.

(Nitrogen
gas generators are available in capacities from 2
Nm3/hr to 5000Nm3/hr)
The above Nitrogen capacity is for EACH Module. For
large Nitrogen capacity, several number of these modules
are assembled in parallel. |
