Pigging using Nitrogen Gas
MVS recently commissioned 2 – PSA Nitrogen plants to an Indian multinational conglomerate company. Its diversified businesses includes resources, logistics, agribusiness and energy sectors. The Group is the largest port developer and our 2 plants are supplied to their oil tanking terminal in Western India.

The imported chemical and petrochemical products are being handled at the port and nitrogen is being used for pigging of pipelines plus inerting of big sized tanks.
Whether performing major maintenance or remedial treatments on the pipeline, using nitrogen as an inert propellant for moving “pigs” through pipeline is standard practiced. Nitrogen is the gas of choice to displace oxygen, retard oxidation, break the “fire triangle” and prevent explosions.
Nitrogen blanketing is widely used in many industries to prevent fires, explosion, or degradation of products during their production, storage, and transport. By implementing best practices in your blanketing system, you may find opportunities to reduce costs and improve safety.
Concentration control blanketing
An oxygen monitoring system controls the flow of nitrogen into the headspace of the tank. A concentration control system can help enable precise operation and reduce gas usage compared to continuous purging.
