AIRCRAFT FUEL TANK INERTING

Inerting the headspace in aircraft fuel tanks.

BACTERIA ELIMINATION (FOOD PACKAGING)

Bacteria cannot live and grow in absence of Oxygen and no bacteria means no food spoilage. Nitrogen is now commonly used to create an oxygen-free atmosphere in food packaging and this application is commonly known as MAP – Modified Atmosphere Packaging. You can read our blog post on this subject.

BEVERAGE MIXING / DISPENSING

N2 is used for beverage storage, CO2 mixing and beverage transport/dispensing to end users such as breweries and manufacturers of beverage dispensing systems.

BLANKETING FOR ADHESIVE CURING

Nitrogen is used for improved adhesion of bonds in furnaces where adhesive compound is applied to various tape materials. Oxygen present prevents adequate curing and hence Nitrogen is used to purge the Oxygen.

BRAZING

Nitrogen is used for prevention of oxidation during brazing application.

BRIGHT ANNEALING

Because of the potential for oxidation, bright annealing requires high purity nitrogen.

CABLE SPLICE DRYING

Nitrogen used as clean and dry gas in the process.

CEMENT PLANTS

Nitrogen is as inert gas for fire prevention and fire fighting in various locations of a cement plant such as bag filters, coal silos, coal mills etc. You can read our detailed blog post on this subject.

CHEMICALS PLANTS / REFINERIES

Nitrogen is used to inert the headspace in chemical storage or process tanks to eliminate hazardous situation.

COAL MINE FIRE PREVENTION

Nitrogen is used for both fire prevention by flooding areas where there is abnormal heat build-up and also fire fighting in areas where oxygen is starved by flooding Nitrogen

OIL RECOVERY ENHANCEMENT / OIL EXTRACTION

Nitrogen is used for repressurizing oil wells in a safe and efficient manner.

ETHANOL PRODUCTION / BIO-FUELS

Nitrogen is used to eliminate moisture while pressurizing, blanketing, and inerting storage and holding tanks.

EXPLOSIVE ATMOSPHERES / FIRE PREVENTION / SUPPRESSION

The most effective way to extinguish or prevent a fire is to eliminate the oxygen. Nitrogen is a cost effective way to displace oxygen which will result in creating an inert atmosphere. An inert atmosphere will not allow combustion thus will either suppress of prevent a fire or explosion.

FUEL TANK INERTING

Nitrogen is used to blanket the headspace in fuel tanks. It reduces the possibility of an explosion by eliminating gaseous fumes.

GAS BLANKETING

Nitrogen is the ideal inert gas for blanketing or purging. It can be used to blanket storage tanks where various hydrocarbons or chemicals are housed, or used to reduce the oxygen content to a safe level.

GRAIN ELEVATOR EXPLOSION PREVENTION

Nitrogen is used to inert grain silos and grain elevators, eliminating explosions in dust-filled atmospheres. Grain dust in these environments is very hazardous, and in an oxygen-rich environment, a spark could cause the dust to ignite.

HEAT TREATING

Nitrogen is used for prevention of oxidation of metals during the heat treating process which not only weakens but also discolors the metals.

INJECTION MOULDING

Most injection molders require 99% nitrogen for their applications.

JEWELLERY MANUFACTURING

Oxygen in jewellery manufacturing process discolors the product and can dangerously weaken it. Hence Nitrogen is used for prevention of oxidation.

KILN / GRAIN DRYING

The low dew point of nitrogen produced by MVS gas generators (as low as (-) 80°C) makes it an ideal choice for grain drying and kiln drying.

LABORATORY PROCESSES – LCMS / GC

99-99.5% purity Nitrogen is required for LCMS and higher purity Nitrogen (up to 99.9995%) is used for gas chromatography applications in laboratories

LASER CUTTING / LASER WELDING

For superior product quality Nitrogen is now very commonly used

MILITARY APPLICATIONS

Nitrogen is now used in several military applications including battery inerting, tire filling, fuel tank inerting, lab uses and explosive inerting.

MODIFIED ATMOSPHERE PACKAGING (MAP)

Nitrogen is used in food packaging in vertical form fill, cup filling, bottling, bagging, or any form of packaging for liquid, solids, shred, grated paste or gels. Nitrogen prevents spoilage, preserves freshness, maintains flavor, dramatically extends shelf life, and delivers a significantly improved product to your customer. NITROGEN TIRE INFLATION

It is observed that automobile and aircraft tires filled with Nitrogen yield better fuel economy, longer tire life and hence result in cost savings. Nitrogen eliminates oxidation (which causes premature tire wear) and offers better tire pressure retention.

OFF SHORE PLATFORMS

Inert atmospheres required in off shore applications are now using Nitrogen for displacement of Oxygen and for fire prevention.

PHARMACEUTICALS

PIPELINE DRYING / INERTING / PIGGING / MAINTENANCE

The low dew point of nitrogen makes it an ideal choice for pipeline drying. Being inert in nature, Nitrogen also eliminates Oxygen which in turn lends to a safer environment.

PRINTING / FLEX PRINTING / INK CURING

Nitrogen is used to eliminate Oxygen during these processes.
