NEL Hydrogen Fueling Station – Factory inauguration

On September 21, 2018 Nel ASA announced the official opening of its new Nel H2Station® factory. The state-of-the-art, large-scale production facility has an annual capacity of 300 hydrogen stations per year. MVS gladly accepted the invitation to attend this inauguration of the world’s largest Fueling Station factory in Herning, Denmark.

Hydrogen fueling is no longer a pipe dream and this is evident from the energy and enthusiasm demonstrated by the attendees of the event. The inauguration was attended by the leaders in the field of hydrogen fuel and hydrogen energy.

Hydrogen fueling stations are increasing rapidly in Europe and in NorthEast and Western USA. Many of these hydrogen stations are powered by renewable energy and hence it makes the hydrogen fuel production on-site have a near zero carbon footprint.

Increasing renewable power availability in many parts of the world hasmade renewable power cheaper and many times at par with the cost of fossil fuel generated power in coal-fired power plants. Renewable power through wind also brings another interesting dynamic in that excess power may be available during the night when there aren’t sufficient takers. Off-take of this excess power through the grid is necessary and hence renewable power producers also give incentives to buyers to purchase power during such events.

Nel H2Station® factory is a step in the direction of steadily growing for such demand hydrogen fueling stations worldwide. Nel has demonstrated fossil fuel parity with hydrogen without the need for government subsidies for hydrogen-fueled vehicles. In recent history, many people have wondered about the feasibility of hydrogen as a fuel. However, with increasing renewable power, hydrogen produced from water electrolysis is making excess hydrogen availability as a fuel a reality.

MVS Engineering is partners of Nel in India and we are championing the growth of hydrogen fueling in India by lobbying with the various agencies and ministerial bodies to make hydrogen a reality in India.
