MVS Engineering applies Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology in manufacturing a PSA nitrogen generator. Atmospheric air is compressed and sent into a tower filled with carbon molecular sieves (CMS), which is an adsorbent material. CMS adsorbs oxygen, moisture, and traces of other gases present in the air, leaving only nitrogen. Thus, pure nitrogen gas is collected through an end pipe in a large container.
Two CMS-filled vessels are alternately used for adsorption of other gases in a nitrogen plant. While one vessel is engaged in nitrogen production, the second one gets ready for regeneration by releasing all the gases back into the atmosphere. This cyclic operation enables continuous nitrogen supply from a nitrogen plant.
